Aniplex has thrilled Monogatari fans with the release of a trailer for ‘Wazamonogatari’. This next arc in the Monogatari Off and Monster Season series is the narrative continuation from the past episode 6.5, ‘A Cruel Fairy Tale: The Beautiful Princess’.
Key Characters and Atmosphere
The trailer introduces Maya Sakamoto’s Acerola near its beginning. Soon afterward, viewers meet a mysterious, slender vampire. The warm colors predominantly used in most of the footage set this prequel apart from previous episodes such as Oroka or Nadmonogatari. The scenic shots convey a grand sense of scale, adding to the solemn yet majestic atmosphere.
Series Release Dates
‘Wazamonogatari’ is set to premiere on August 24 JST. The first episode of Monogatari Off and Monster Season was released on July 6 JST. This latest installment in the anime series adapts the supernatural light novels written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by VOFAN.
Monogatari Series
The off-season books from 2015 to 2017 encompass Oroka, Waza, Nad, and Musubi-monogatari. Meanwhile, the Monster Season stories from 2017 to 2021 include Shinobu, Yoi, Amari, Ougi, and Shimo-monogatari parts 1 and 2. The series began with the 2006 light novel ‘Bakemonogatari’, which saw its anime adaptation premiere in 2009. Directed by Tatsuya Oishi, it laid the foundation for subsequent adaptations, including the Kizumonogatari movie trilogy directed by Oishi and other Monogatari animes directed by Tomoyuki Itamura.
